Oxley Tower Office
“Of stone, wood and steel – where unexpected atmospheres arise from the meeting of opposites.”
The space is home to the Singapore headquarters and private office of the Group Chairman of a property developer and hotel operator based in Shenzhen, China and currently establishing a presence in Singapore.
The design is a study in contrast; of light and dark, smooth and rough, mass and lightness, sleek and rustic, thick and thin. The sensory and tactile quality of each material is amplified by its counterpart; the rough-hewn granite slabs of the lift walls feel rougher and heavier next to the cold, thin blackened steel plates that frame them.

Edgeless mirror stainless steel panels sheath the staff office ‘cube’, rendering it invisible amidst the luxe palette of glass, steel, wood and stone. Multiple reflections of the different types of light and surfaces both expands the perception of space and imbues it with a sense of depth that belie its modest dimensions.
The seemingly messy and random bird nest ceiling was rigorously rationalized into a simple system of a few modules of meticulously detailed pine wood strips.
